Lakeside Lounge

It's looking great by the lake.

There’s an exciting change at Nita Lake Lodge in Whistler Creekside this season as the lodge unveils its newly revamped Lakeside Lounge, with a stunning patio alongside Nita Lake — a fresh take on their legendary, warm Whistler hospitality. “We’ve got such a great venue right next to the lake — the only one in Whistler,” enthuses Darren Brown, director of food and beverage.

Experience what we love this winter with some local Whistler favourites. Ski-down or take the short drive to visit Creekside Village and indulge in a treat of locally made gelato or sorbet, pick-and-mix candy, healthful smoothies, warming oatmeal bowls and Italian coffees at Confetti Gelato; fulfill your passion for patties at Splitz Grill on Main Street — the local’s favourite casual place with serious burgers, with fresh patties made daily and more than 40 homemade toppings; try some locally made gin or vodka from Whistler’s first local distillery Montis Distilling in Function Junction.

There are so many restaurants where you can hang out in a great lobby lounge for cocktails, then move on to dinner. The Lakeside Lounge is the perfect place to start your evening with bubbles and oysters before heading next door to The Den for dinner.”

The new concept introduces a raw bar program, plans for Miraval-sponsored patio parties with DJs on weekends all summer long, and a return to weekly live music on Wednesdays. “Now you can have a seat at the bar, talk to the chef, and sample oysters from [Vancouver] Island and the East Coast,” says Chef Derek Weerts. “We’re bringing in sustainable jumbo wild prawns from Baja California and Haidacore [wild Albacore] tuna [from Haida Gwaii, B.C.]. The seafood tower is a big focal point — we’re offering it at a competitive price so more people can enjoy it.”

Locals and in-the-know visitors can get a steal of a deal at the Lakeside Lounge Happy Hour. Try the seafood platter sampler, which showcases a little of everything from the raw bar, including oysters and that melt-in-your-mouth, delicate Haidacore tuna. Our favourite?

The juicy Prince Edward Island mussels smothered in a smoky 'nduja and sweet tomato sauce, topped with a herbaceous, garlicky punch of chimichurri, along with fresh-baked sourdough — possibly the most delicious bite in town right now.

“We’re very excited about these dishes,” Weerts says. “The scallop carpaccio, the ceviche, and aguachile are fantastic. It’s a great spot to enjoy fresh flavours in a relaxed setting.”

Pair fresh seafood (or one of their legendary burgers!) with classic cocktails with a twist, such as the Her Majesty, which incorporates fresh lemon juice and house-made thyme and lavender syrup in a G&T, or a White Negroni with savoury Tio Pepe Fino sherry — and that’s just the beginning of their cocktail selection.
